Behold, the 1974 album "Mirage" by Camel! It has an album cover which looks just like the Camel cigarette carton, down to the logo. Even if you aren't a smoker, the music on this album is absolutely impressive - two semi-epics plus two instrumentals and a generic rock opener. One of the songs is based off of Lord of the Rings, and the general sound of the album is very mellow, with flute, soaring guitar, and calm deep vocals. Imagine if the British still held control of the Arabian Peninsula and made music from there; that's what this album sounds like.

Give it a shot: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL8a8cutYP7foW99C0sVTUcX9cdj7GPX0I

Selling England By The Pound by Genesis is the best prog album imo.

Damm good pick, I haven't listened to Nektar in a while.

St Anger by Metallica. It's my jam, dude.
Not kidding, St. Wanker is on the progarchives website to review because Metallica is considered a pioneer of progressive metal or whatever. It is rated a 1.72/5, which is godawful given the lowest review you can give is a 1.

What are you talking about? St Anger is a fucking masterpiece.
I don't think it's all that bad tbh; only really shitty thing about it is the mastering; sounds like it was recorded in the back of a VW bus on a West Virginian backroad at 45 mph
