It's foolish to assume your decisions arise from a political vacuum in capitalism. If it is not a technocratic / democratic entiety within a "state" with flat hierarchies, the status quo forged by corporations will form your will in the first place and decide for us before most even notice. The sugar example sucks especially. Corporations lobbying for subsidies (no skipping the state will not change anything), using manipulative ads and campaigns, getting people early used to to much sugar. People who buy sugary stuff don't make a free choice. This is like saying following religion with early indoctrination is a free choice.
It is scientifically proven that people are to fat and that your tastebuds will adapt to less sugar. I know you will say out of spite "I know this and I don't care".
