I haven't heard of anybody else having this, but it's bad.
I am either actively watching for hours or playing sitcoms in the background while browsing the internet or even playing a game.
But here's the dangerous part: doing anything without having this constant small source of dopamine from sitcoms is now nearly impossible for me. There's a lot of things that sitcoms grant me that I can't go without even for 5 minutes:
They keep me distracted and in escapism mode at all times. They are easy and allow me to turn my brain off all day and I'm basically as close as it can be to being awake and doing literally nothing. They are a distraction from what I may be doing and also they lessen the boredom that I feel at all times. They provide sounds in the background that feel like things are happening, that it's not lonely, they keep that feeling of being totally with yourself away. Also, there's the moderately funny/unfunny jokes that give very little doses of dopamine at all times.
Basically the moment I don't have a sitcom running it feels like I'm going through withdrawal. The world suddenly feels too quiet, too boring, too mentally demanding of brain power and energy, too difficult in many ways. It's basically literally rotting, it's a comfort zone that I can't get out of. I'm just watching the same ~15 or so sitcoms over and over.
