Mikhalkov compared Weinstein’s victims to prostitutes who lost their marketable appearance
The Russian director Nikita Mikhalkov, on the Besogon TV program, compared the victims of producer Harvey Weinstein with prostitutes who lost their presentation. A recording of his monologue is published on the official YouTube channel .
The filmmaker noted that the Norwegian terrorist Andreas Breivik, convicted of the death of 77 people, received 21 years of “quite comfortable prison”, while the former Hollywood magnate was sentenced to 23 years in prison. According to Mikhalkov, “women with reduced social responsibility” themselves made contact with Weinstein to receive an Oscar or a role in the film. "There was no craving, love and passion. There was a cold crew" he emphasized.
In his opinion, all the women who spoke about the producer’s harassment “lost their presentation” and wanted to remind themselves. Mikhalkov complained that now everything is for sale, and cowardice is explained by tolerance.
On March 11, Weinstein was sentenced to 23 years in prison. In February, the jury found him guilty of rape of the third degree and incitement to sex of the first degree. Weinstein refused to admit his guilt. According to him, everything happened by mutual agreement. Weinstein’s defense intends to appeal the verdict, an appeal will be filed in July.
