I think autists are essentially the "opposite" of psychopaths. From what I once heard psychopaths don't "feel" emotions and rationally perceive emotions from others, but don't "feel" them. Autists, on the other hand, extremely strongly "feel" emotions of others but have difficulties rationally perceiving them. My personal theory is that maybe the problems with perceiving emotions simply comes from that autists don't "try" to perceive them because it would make them feel too much while psychopaths carefully study them because they don't feel anything.
