Are building games the ultimate cope? (minecraft, dwarf fortress, programming, etc.?)

Aside from the usual gym/sports...

minecraft, dwarf fortress, easy programming languages like golang/python/javascript, etc. seems to be a really good cope.

Your world sucks? Make your own world.

I used to play a lot of minecraft. I think it's the best example of an open-ended 3d game with a high amount of complexity. Perfect environment to test and develop AGI.

Also, I like doing a lot of stuff in python. So much better than making awful PHP scripts which is what most of my work is.

I used to do my own AI neuroevolution research using python. I didn't want to create a new world as much as a new race, a new form of life to replace the ugliness of ourselves. The hope would be that despite arriving from evolution, a digital genome would be easier to copy, modify, etc.

I think you'll need C++ for any serious simulation stuff. Python is slower than php and nodejs by a huge margin lolol

even dwarf fortress is made in c++ and it still lags late game

It's heavy parallelized and uses numpy. So it's making tons of C++ calls. Also networkx which uses a C++ graph library. Python is just the glue.

Also, it's research phase so it's nice to be able to change things quickly and see what happens. That's why python is used so much in AI and ML.

I've never used the ML stuff. I just do the programming shit as a hobby. Still, I've always wanted to make a very basic dwarf fortress like simulation.

Ever seen this? https://imgur.com/r/4chan/4YB6nlE (just ignore the loli /edgy stuff)

yeah it's been done a million times before, this is just for fun for me
