Are bad endings/continuations in media the result of the authors straying from the glory of God?

Antoni Gaudí, famous architect, would attribute his creative process to the Almighty, as if he were the hand writing down and not the mastermind. This is a sentiment echoed by many (succesful and celebrated) artists in every field.

So, did formerly great artists fuck up their works by taking the helm and ignoring the divine connection? Or are there other explanations as to why they fell off?
