Yes - up to a point.

If you can rack up a decent volume of approaches, you can at least say you've tried. Don't just approach for the sake of making up the numbers, though - make every approach a genuine attempt to get the girl's number/arrange a date/fulfil whatever your intentions are.

I've approached over 100 girls - none of them have gone on a date with me, but I feel a peculiar sense of contentment knowing that I've tried harder than the overwhelming majority of guys my age.

Approaching will also lower your inhibition which is a useful skill to have in other walks of life.

However, there comes a point where approaching is likely to do you more bad than good. Constant rejections are bound to take their toll eventually, and when it gets to that point, it's important to take a step back. Your mental well-being is far too important to jeopardize for the sake of approaching girls.
