Authoritarians of all stripes love backdoors. Absurd that a company as privacy-friendly as Apple decided that "WhAt ABouT tHe ChILDrEn" trumps their consumers' right to communicate without having their devices continually scanned and the material automatically reported the state.

Make no mistake, a system that scans for child sexual abuse material could easily be repurposed to scan for material that some nefarious actors consider politically sensitive.

Hopefully, all of these Big Tech giants get a grip and stop agecucking so hard.

They already can recover permanently deleted photos remotely.

all the big tech companies, Microsoft, Google, Apple, Facebook, etc. are against their users' privacy.

just use Linux

Who here actually needed to worry about this? Scan my phone, I don't give a fuck.

What if someone take pics of their own children? Did they scan for sexually explicit pics or semi nudes or something, many parents take pictures of their naked small kids.

Brutal apepillpill

This is all a scam. It's nothing what they are talking about. I bet their true intention is looking for political opposition and highly serious whistleblowing against companies/governments around the globe, like in the case of Snowden.
Trust me in this, we are already entering the middle stages of 1984.

I don’t have anything nasty on my phone so idgaf. If you have saucy shit don’t keep it on an iPhone.

It already is in china

Also perceptual hashes are reversible to some extent
if they do it - they will be downloading super low resolution cp on your phone.

LMAO cope, we've been there since the middle of the 90s. Only retards like OP think govcucks "play by their own rules".
Well yes, but look at the state and advancement of technology of then to now. A phone is 100x more powerful than a 90s computer and now we have semi quantum computers that could break completely insane cryptographies in mere seconds that would take hundreds of thousands of years for a normal computer to break.

Should any government build one of these monstrosities in secret and the privacy of an entire country is gone in minutes, every data could be breached in seconds with such power, now imagine a country with as much capital as USA or China working on something like this. And USA alone has multiple of these mega powerful computers at their hands capable of computing calculations in seconds or less than 3 minutes that would fry even the most powerful supercomputers taking millions of years to do the same calculations, they could easily break into anything imaginable doesn't matter how strong the encryption is.

It is already a known fact that NSA spies on the whole planet and has the capacity to store hundreds of years of digital data. Once something is on the internet, it is already at some obscure NSA storage seconds later, they are pretty much omnipresent and omnipotent with their tools and they are known to have insiders working with obscure hacking groups using some of their nastiest tools that can hack any device you can think of and have root access to anything and break into anything.
NOTHING is safe in this digital world with such computing power available with these monstrosities of super computers and semi quantum computers out there, and these nasty companies that purposely build backdoors for these shady organisations to spy on anyone they want, doesn't matter who it is or where the person is or their level of security.

Online "privacy and security" is a god damn fucking joke and an illusion, probably the biggest joke and illusion of our era.
