We all know what Ted Kaczynski did, and in my opinion, his lifestyle was very appealing. He lived in the forests of Montana away from society for a good 20 years before his capture, and I'm thinking about doing the same. I could live off the land, explore nature and stay the hell away from people the rest of my life. I'm seriously considering wage-slaving for 10~20 years until I have enough money to buy a plot of land in some remote place in the north of the US or Canada.

Kaczynski suffered heavily from "thinking he's smarter than he actually is" syndrome.
Which is a shame because that usually happens to people who are smart in the first place who get let their egos a little bloated and he's no exception.

He had to justify the reason he felt so excluded from society somehow, and his conclusion on the matter was pretty accurate. He was too damn smart, and there was no hope that someone could understand him.
I'm not nearly as intelligent, but I can see from his perspective because I feel similarly, not in the sense that I'm so smart, but that the likelyhood I click with annoying in exceptionally low for various reasons.

His feelings in that sense were taken to the extreme because he was truly exceptional. I cannot imagine what It would be like to be him.
