I'm trying to get into the series. So far, the first game is pretty boring. Is it worth suffering through this?

I played the first game of the series, but that was many years ago. :feelsjuice::yes:

I dont like disney mixed with anime stuff, so no.

Ive wanted to get In KH since I was a kid, but I never had a chance to play any of the games and when looking into the game's story, I was immediately confused. "Sanctuary" still hold a special place in my childhood memories cause I used to hear it all the time for some reason, probably becuase of the KH2 commercial.

How old are you?

1, 2, and BBS, final mixes included, are really fun and great nostalgia fuel. I didn’t care for KH3 which might be representative of the series falling out of favor for me

the story sprouted a penis after the first game and basically became incomprehensible unless you play all the side games, etc.

makes me wonder how far OP got as I found the game pretty gripping, did he get stuck on all the island prep quest pre-heartless?

I liked the one and two which i played back in the 2007 i think, BBS on psp was also good, after that i cooled off and lost interest.

haven't been into it since 2011 lol

I played them all except Chain of Memories (I didn't like the gameplay) and the mobile games. Overall they were a lot of fun except from KH3 which was too easy and the worlds weren't so good, but it was a still a decent game. My personal favorite is KH2 followed very closely by the original KH. Also the story is a mess and barely makes sense (even if you play all the games there are so many small details easy to miss), but it's not a game you play for the story. You play it for the gameplay, the music and the setting with Disney worlds. Also they're at a good price because they're old games, the compilation with all the games costs like 40€ and is usually on sale at half the price.

Disney shit turns me off so hard but the Sephiroth fights look cool tbh
Almost seems like a hack and slash

I stopped playing during the Tarzan section (first game). It's just so boring and childish. The combat also sucks.

compared to what?
it's a lot darker than most disney stuff which is part of the spin

The combat also sucks.
compared to what? I like the keyblade fight mechanics and 3d and all that

Simple answer: Yes, it's worth it.

Long answer: If you had been around when the series first started back in 2002, you could have experienced it better.

Compared to every other game I've ever played. I've played plenty of Lego games in my life and none of them have been boring and they were even less childish when compared to KH.

Also compared to pretty much every game I've ever played.
Also "compared to what" isn't even an argument (if you're trying to make it one), it's basically whataboutism. If a game is good it stands by itself and doesn't need comparisons.

Although they remastered the earlier games yeah a lot of it is 'you had to be there' and appreciate it in context.

All these gen Z kids prob could never appreciate how much fun the original Ninja Gaiden or Super Mario Bros was for example

I like some lego TV shwos but haven't played lego games, wondeirng if you could recommend some

a lot of Atari and NES games were good for their time but young kids will call them lame using modern games as a point of reference

goodness very much is about comparisons since you are dividing things into good/bad

I'd be happy to:
I'm not sure whether the old ones are objectively good or nostalgia, but I think you should try them just to be sure. These include Lego Star Wars The complete saga, Lego Batman and Lego Harry Potter (also Lego Indiana Jones but I personally find that one overrated).
The new ones are also great, check out Lego Lord of the Rings, Lego Marvel Superheroes or Lego DC Supervillains. The newer ones feature actual dialogue, unlike the older ones.
Then you also have some in-between ones that are also great and underrated, such as Lego Star Wars The Clone Wars.

I would say that It all depends on which franchises you like and whether you like the older ones or the newer ones. If you like Star Wars, check out Lego Star Wars the complete saga and Lego Star Wars the Clone Wars; If you like comics, check out Lego Marvel superheroes etc.

[TL;DR I guess] If you don't care just play Lego Star Wars The complete saga

I only like Kingdom Hearts bcs its from my childhood. If I discovered it now, I probably would hate it.

having FF cross over with Disney was pretty cool at the time (2002) this was just a year after Smash Bros Melee came out in 2001 keep in mind, crossover
yeah we have Xmen vs Street Fighte rin 96 but crossovers were mostly just fighting games AFAIK not much for story
KH trying to blend the stories made it interesting
