I was more impressed with it than I thought I was gonna be. I love that Blade Runner vibe, even if in the desert. Plus lifefuel for skinny fucks like me with that Timothee Chalamet. But still, not enough Zendaya?

Not this shit again bruh

It was good, but too many niggers. House Atreides is supposed to be Greek/Hellenistic/Mediterranean, not Globohomo. Fremen are supposed to be Arabic or Persian, not black as night nigger infested.

Ima watch it in IMAX. I have been planning to read the books, but I doubt I’ll ever get to that

Didn't like it. [UWSL]They should've hired a legit Chadlite instead of that overhyped rat-faced wimp. Even young Johnny Depp looked more masculine jfl.[/UWSL]

I enjoyed it a lot; the pacing and development, however, was something I didn't exactly enjoy.
It felt hastly paced between plot points. Also, in my opinion, the character development was lacking, i.e., only two characters got properly developed: Paul and Jessica. As well as that, other characters just got completely shafted from the book entirely: Feyd-Rauth, mainly. Likewise, many major things/events weren't explained at all in the movie, this includes: the butlerian jihad, the mentats, the voice, the landsraad, the CHOAM company, the spacing guild, the missionaria protectiva, etc. Also, there were just not enough scenes and or development with the notable characters of the movie, notably, (and especially) the Baron Vladimir Harkonnen, Jamis, Thufir Hawat, and Dr. Yueh. Sadly, Liet-Kynes was just a completely forgettable character entirely and is a niggress on top of that.
Otherwise, it was a beautiful movie, albeit the story is a little too simplified and streamlined to Paul if anything.
Ultimately, though, the score, the set-design, the visual effects, everything about it, visually, was masterfully done and made up for it's shortcomings.
It's definitely the best interpretation/adaptation of Dune yet.

This is true.
Dr. Liet-Kynes is a literal niggress and Chani Kynes is a mulatto: complete opposites of what the book portrays them as.

I think I will watch it. It seems cool although I have a phobia for worms so I might not be able to watch it

I dunno what that is

In retrospect, most of the niggers got killed off by the end. Even
Paul's first kill was that of killing a nigger who was chimping out
Maybe the movie is subversively based.

I watched it, wtf was that shit, i had to fast forward some scenes. makes no sense. a total waste of my hour.

Director must have been a faggot, what with all the close up drama shots of the pretty boy protagonist. Other than that, good film tbh for a sci fi fan.

@commander_zoidberg thoughts?

The old one with sting was better

I was actually fairly surprised. It was about 90% faithful to the book - though it did puzzle me that it did relatively little to explain some of the back story like the 1984 version. I thought the 1984 version was quite clever with introducing the film and the basic concepts of the universe with the princess Irulan and using her to narrate developments throughout. Though I think the decision to split the book into two films was a good idea, gives them more time to develop some of these concepts and the political intrigue behind them for the audience. In the book the dependence of the spacing guild on the spice is revealed to the reader at the end. Though no mention of the Bitlurian Jihad - the reverend mother never mentions it. I also found her somewhat less menacing than the woman who played the witch in 1984.

I was fairly relived that the film wasn't as niggardly as I was expecting - Paul even gets to kill one. Although I think Sean Young was a better Cheney than whoever they used in this film. The guy they picked to play Paul - I'm not quite sure. Kyle MacLachlan was somewhat more masculine for the role than Chalamet - he seems a bit to skinny and effeminate to command authority like MacLachlans Maud'Dib could. The woman they picked to play his mother Jessica seemed fairly solid.

Brolin as Gurney Haleck seemed to fit fairly well - he is quite a dominating presence as a "hard man" type - it worked in Sicario. It would either have had to be him or Liam Neeson to play Gurney. Likewise Jason Mahoma was pretty spot on for Duncan Idaho. He can carry the physicality pretty well.

Feyd Routhas absence was conspicuous - I can only assume we will meet him in the second film. Raban was meant to be the fall guy on Arakis. The Baron wanted Feyd to sit on the throne one day given the emperor didn't have a son and Feyd was his cousin. We could see him introduced when Count Fehnring visits Gedi prime.

I do feel in places the pacing was a little fast while more time was expended on exterior and vis effects shots rather than developing characters and fleshing out the universe. Though I don't feel I can judge it to negatively until we get the second film.

I was quite impressed with the thopter design and the shield effects in combat were interesting.
