Anyone else disturbed when they were younger by the glorified violence towards men in movies?

As a child I always found movies to be very hypocritical and disturbing. Men would be killed in the most violent and grotesque ways, meanwhile one woman dying would be a moment tragedy with sad music. It was such blatant hypocrisy and I pointed it out. I remember telling my dad "it was funny how men dying is nothing, but when a woman or child dies in a movie it's a massive tragedy where they play emotional music like laugh tracks." Surprisingly he agreed.


It's so obvious these movies are normies satisfying their fantasies to kill men. Especially when they include genital mutilation and rape as a joke. (Male rape is used as a joke in fucking soy marvel movies btw)

Let's not even discuss "feminist revenge" genre where women violently torture their "rapists" or just random men who are "sexist."

Bad take. It's this way due to the very nature of violence more than anything else. It's a wee bit tough to show violence without victims, don't you think? And you can't ask for every single violent movie to be fantasy/sci-fi/alien so that the victims of violence aren't human, that would get old really fast.
You would also complain about the 5ft nothing woman beating up dudes twice her size if the protagonist of an action movie is a dirty foid. And you would be right to do so, tangentially.

It's just that when taking both these factors into consideration, what do you end up with?
Exactly, one to six dudes mowing down armies of male cannon fodder.

tl;dr The depiction of violence towards men in media is less misandric and more pragmatic. It's writing itself that you're complaining about here, not any bias.

But if I were being honest, I think the reason why you didn't like excessive violence is because you were too young and innocent. To me shit such as dismemberment, decapitation or any other body mutilation seemed too SF and unimaginable as a kid.
