Akainu managed to do that vs a old, dying, sick and wounded Whitebeard that was tired after fighting against all three admirals. AND he still managed to BTFO him.

Even when sick and wounded, a Yonko wins against an admiral. Akainu may have injured him but do a Akainu 1v1 vs uninjured and rested Whitebeard and Whitebeard will win eZ

Ffs. The marines during the war had a plan. The original plan was for the 7 war lords to take on the WB pirates, and the 3 admirals to defend the plat form that ace was on. But since the war lords started fucking around and doing stupid shit and not trying, the admirals had to step in.
The admirals were nerfed during the war as they couldn’t go all out for fear of hurting allies or causing damage to their island. So nerfed admirals were being stalled by some of the strongest commanders, ones who had especially good defensive fruits.
