Just finished setting up ubuntu on this external harddrive of mine. Had some issues with the initial setup but after 3 more tries it purrs like a kitten.

It is a trucel OS. You need a lot of time to learn how to deal with any issues that may arise but the net superiority of Linux is well known. It is simply the optimal OS for everything.

i use LM, because ubuntu has propietary stuff such as Snaps and also cause it's close to windows 10 in UI and updates are easy.

The first Linux distro I ever used was tailsOS believe it or not, but it's basically a debian derivative like a lot of distros. I obviously don't use it as a daily driver because it's only use is accessing Tor in a safe and secure manner.

I honestly do not mind proprietary stuff. I don't use it for privacy reasons or because I am some sort of an ideologue, it is just because my device is getting pretty old and windows is just too bulky for it. Also I plan on doing all of my journaling digitally from now on because it is no fun carrying around note blocks everywhere. You just can't beat Vim in terms of efficiency. You simply can't.

The proprietary stuff isn't a huge deal-breaker but you're really just at the mercy of whatever the fuck Canonical does to their distro which may not be the best decision.

I like Ubuntu because a lot of stuff is easily supported there if it's on Linux but usually whatever is supported on Ubuntu is supported on LM too.
