I'm using hianime.to ever since gogoanime's admin got (possibly) arrested by the feds. Which I moved to after 9anime was shut down.

But what I noticed is the comments on hianime are genuinely low IQ, like it was written by some 13 year old shitskins.

Gogo and 9A had better comments IMO, even then, that's a low bar since Hianime's comments are the most stupidest, braindead crap I've ever seen on the internet.

Recommend me good anime sites which have active comment sections, and have decent IQ. Preferably sites which use Disqus.

I highly doubt what you are looking for even exists anymore.

Any anime site with a comments section is going to be mostly teenagers and early 20somethings who grew up with tik tok and have the attention span of a lobotomized goldfish. The days of effort posting are mostly gone.

If you want to find a community with effortposters, you'll need to find a community that discusses something that mostly appeals to older people, but not too old as you don't want to be posting with a bunch of literal baby boomers. It's really hard to find such communities but I've found a couple.

Just go on the myanimelist/reddit episode page

Could you share what communities you found that are like that?

I'm pretty sure these didn't even exist even back in the day, I remember the comments in pirate anime sites to be completely retarded even back when I was a kid in 2013.

Yeah, I wouldn't go to an anime pirate site for socialization in general.

There were some good anime forums back in the 2000s though. Back before ironic weebs and weirdos posting lolis and pretending to talk like one were rampant. Even though I'm not really a weeb anymore (burnt out on anime) I kinda wish there was a community specifically for middle aged otaku, or at least where they're the majority. These days I'll see discussions about 90s anime like Evangelion and Trigun and think they might be my age, then I look at their profiles and they're like 19 and just into "retro anime".

It seems like most weebs just get burnt out on anime. My old friends who used to be weebs all stopped caring about anime long ago. Even the truecel ones who were diehard weebs stopped caring about anime.

It also doesn't help that the quality of anime has gone down. Too much isekaislop, irony poisoning, recycled character archetypes, tropes that have been done to death, and anime so fanservice heavy it might as well just be hentai. Anime seems to be suffering from the same problem as the video game industry and hollywood, creative exhaustion. Same is happening with meme culture. Most "new" memes are just offshoots of other memes. It's like humanity has collectively exhausted it's creative energy.

That's true. I'm pretty sure that most older people are mostly interested in visual novels, LNs and manga instead of modern anime. I've been watching seasonals for over a while now and while there are some alright ones, it's VASTLY inferior in raw output to how it used to be back in the days. I can name, say, 5 shows that are good in all of the 2020s so far, and I can name 7 that came out in a single year from 2011.
I'd say it's less about humanity exhausting its collective energy but the same few types of show selling more, especially since China is now the biggest market for anime.

China is obviously the "biggest market" in the sense that China probably has more anime fans than any other country, but I really doubt they're the biggest market as far as generating revenue for the industry. Chinese pirate everything and make bootleg merch. You can find bootleg merch of just about any anime you can think of on temu or aliexpress. International copyrights simply aren't enforced there at all. I know that the fact that China is a big market has changed hollywood movies, since while chinese don't buy official DVDs they still go to the movie theater, but that's a different topic.

I'd say the bigger issue with modern anime is that it's made with a western market in mind (ironybro zoomers, tumblrinas, etc.) whereas a couple decades ago appealing to a western audience wasn't a factor in development. I also think anime has gotten more...I dont know the right word is, but more ADD-friendly. Like the anime is holding your hand, constantly reminding you of what's going on and what happened in previous episodes (or earlier in the episode) in case you forgot. This would also explain why there are more 1 dimensional characters who have a single defining character trait that's usually just a recycled trope. It would also explain why theres so much more fanservice now, gotta show an angle that shows off a female character's ass (or tits bouncing around) every 40 seconds or zoomer gets bored.

Not these days, but that is how it used to be. Most of the money nowadays is in China, Indonesia, and Korea. The Chinese started consooming more than ever, and there's also TV deals and such. It's why Solo Leveling (which is Korean) got an anime adaptation tbh

I disagree. The West has been unprofitable since forever, which is why it's so hard to find bluerays, you can only find physical manga of famous series, visual novels are super expensive and are rarely professionally translated, not to mention the huge hassle that it is to get figurines. Even with Crunchyroll and Netflix, most zoomers pirate their anime through websites (and are only interested in a handful of shows)
The only show I can think of inspired by Western faggotry is Carole & Tuesday and not a single soul remembers it.
Fanservice is something zoomers on Twitter actually complain about, muh pedophilia and all. Again, it's there because the Chinese and Koreans like it.
