I've recently been reflecting on the cumulative awkward moments that I've had throughout my life and came to the reasoned conclusion that I may have undiagnosed autism. The proximate cause of this introspective analysis was a family wedding I attended last Saturday and which I literally walked out of immediately after the ceremony and before the commencement of the debauched festivities at the reception. I can't abide social gatherings and find small talk to be both counterintuitive and obscenely banal.

I just found and took an autism test at https://www.autism360.com/autism-test-for-adults/ which I think is a fairly reputable source for this type of evaluation. According to the scoring results, I am within the high functioning range but there is a 55% chance that I will have a clinical diagnosis for autism. For anyone contemplating taking that test which is at the link I provided, be forewarned that it charges you $3.00 at the completion of the questionnaire. Does anyone know where I can get professional testing done for adult autism? These online assessments are convenient and expedient but far from definitive and every autism center or facility seems to only treat children. Thanks for reading my brothers.

I'm an autist and I think many of the users of this website are autistic as I have many a time, seen people admit to being autistic and a bunch of people just seem to be autistic.

Do you know if there is anywhere I can go to get professional testing as an adult (not for children)? It just seems as though everyone who has a diagnosis received it when they were in middle school or well before reaching the age of adulthood.

I'm not autistic. I am very capable of doing a turnover in my life.

eh, i dunno

i am awkward and autistic, but i don't mind attention or socialization, the problem is if you aren't attractive enough socialization sucks and your either a) ignored b) bullied c) expected to perform like a monkey for the amusement of others

basically any positive reinforcement at all, would help a lot, but you won't get any

Yes, diagnosed autist on autismbux

They don't care about us when we are no longer cute children.
Yeah that and I think that most autism characteristics manifest in a conspicuous enough way prior to adulthood so that testing can be administered. I grew up in a family which was too stoical about these sorts of things to bother with testing even though there were a multitude of indicators that suggested some sort of psychopathology or disorder.

I don't know as my mother sets things up for me but I guess you will have to look for some independent psychologist or something like my mother did for me.

Yeah I'm leaning towards just calling around to psychologists and psychiatrists who are board certified in the relevant areas and setting up a testing session which is hopefully covered by my bottom tier Medicaid.

I have precisely the opposite problem as you. I'm not hideous and am actually not even abnormally unattractive and may even pass for a normie, at least in the aesthetic domain but, when it comes to social interactions I am entirely inept and my anxiety precludes me from functioning at a level that is acceptable in most situations or is at least consistent with the social sensibilities of the majority of people.

that's unfortunate. aren't at least ugly girls somewhat interested in you? usually it doesn't even matter how sociable you are because if you aren't good-looking or high-status enough, every girl will just avoid you COMPLETELY.

like my awkwardness doesn't matter. because i go everywhere alone and don't look conventionally hot i'm branded as a creep by default and even 15 seconds convos are rare to non-existent

It is unfortunate, but I think you have it far worse man, since looks are the lowest common denominator and the feature which all people tend to be incipiently attracted to or repulsed by. Yes, foids do actually take notice of me and sometimes they are even the type that what I would perceive as being subjectively hot (within the 7-8 range). I do gymaxx and that helps me both with my self-esteem as well as with the superficial aura of attractiveness but ultimately, if you aspire to have any chance of ascending or even engaging in a constructive and normative conversation with a foid, you need to be tolerably attractive and be able to intuitively understand and respond to social cues so as to not appear to be autistic, interpersonally inept or otherwise too idiosyncratic.

brutal stuff, honestly i have interacted with ppl plenty but i find the barrier between us is stronger than you would think.
i think i can respond to social cues and so on, but if we are too different then it doesn't matter at all, they want a conversation where we agree on everything and have the same experience on everything... which is impossible if i am an incel past highschool age... this is what you'd call idiosyncratic and it's unavoidable

Many of us are autists ngl

but also if you can act non-autistic for a moment, you find that normies reject you anyway because you don't have the same experiences

20 year old autist, diagnosed aspergers by my psychologist by 13 years old, tried coping and pretending it ain't true because tbh whenever someone hears about autism they automatically think about retards

Exactly, and this is very brutal when we think about it :feelscry:
