It can help to have things you can redirect your attention towards so you don't dwell on that aspect of life all the time. Not that you shouldn't think about it or allow yourself to feel bad, but if it's something that's making you feel down day in day out all the time then any healthy distractions you can find would be a godsend for your mood. Having some kind of connection to other people can help with loneliness to some extent too.
