They did the same blackwashing thing with Queen Margaret in BBC's (British Broadcasting Channel) adaptation of Henry VI (The Hollow Crown).
It REALLY took me out of the story, as it inserted a race-mixing aspect to the story that Shakespeare never meant to be there.
And clearly Queen Margaret was supposed to be at least somewhat attractive or else the king wouldn't have married her.
It doesn't work with an ugly black roastie in the role.
