I remember when I was a teenager and had outgrown cartoons. But anime still felt fresh, mature and dark with compelling stories that cartoons did not have. When I first watched FMAB I couldn't believe that this kind of thing was possible in an animation.

Now, anime feels the same. I watch it and it feels like I'm watching a silly cartoons. Emotional scenes don't hit like they used to and it all feels corny and immature. Maybe having actual life experiences has made me outgrow anime too.

I think it's the latter, as you grow you can no longer ignore all the mannerism anime have. When i was younger i didn't notice much or didn't gave it that much importance, but now it feels really weird as if 'yeah, that's not how real life works', maybe it makes sense in japan.

I still prefer mid 90s to early '00s cartoons to anime though.

everyone outgrows a interest or two during their life time, is normal. But for anime i will consider it partly due to modern shit being bad a lot of the time and not just age

I've never really watched series anime so it's hard to say. That being said the cheesey romcom slop definitely is taking over

name some examples

I cant consume as much media anymore. I just get bored and lose interest. My brain has completely been rotted to its core from neeting.

i never took anime seriously tbh, to me anime is literally "silly chinese cartoons", something unworthy of attention by default

I think it's because of the artstyle. Back then they used to make the characters more detailed in facial characteristics. Now they just draw one big head, big eyes, no nose and call it a day.

they don't call them chinese cartoons for nothing

It got popular, it stopped being a specific niche that needed to sell for its quality, now it is so easy to get animes hype up even if it is trash because of the quality of the animations, it is made for the masses like a disposable product instead of art that would be relevant for centuries. I hate normies.

Ruined a perfectly fine art form. Once seen as a fringe enjoyable experience for outcasts. Now it finds itself monopolized and ruined to shit. Same goes with video games. Normies also ruined the online gaming scene, and games that were once not as popular. Now ruined by its popularity.

We are running out of copes

Its just boring

Haven't watched any anime in almost 4 years

I only like very few anime, most ones are too exeggerated or oversexualised for my taste

Seems like anime has become too visually bright and shiny compared to what used to be 15+ years ago, it does give a cartoonish style to it which I don't like tbh

I'm a zoomer and I notice this too. I tend to like older animes better.

They are full of tropes and annoying lies that they put into the script the worst are scenes with cooking - nobody knows how to cook and they use it as a clitche humorous trope in most unfunny way possible, most male characters also are fully bluepilled manlets. Stories are also rarely serious and full of the living breathing worlds with their own nations and people.

Artstyle and audio are completely fucked in modern animes, everything is overly shiny and loud instead of being more towned down with great looking dark tones and audio that actually has depth. Animations are all made in CGI and never look as natural and nice as old animes of 80s/90s or even 00s.

Most modern animes are lazily and cheaply made to sell manga volumes.

I don't bother with modern slop at all. And my contention goes beyond technicalities. It's the themes and ideas. They seem immature and childish.

Its because of the :blackpill: . You start to notice how fake anime characters are and how IRL humans work differently. Also anime foids are just way more ideal than 3d foids personality wise. Knowing true female nature just makes it harder to cope honestly. Once you start seeing the bp in anime then its over.

watch the early gundam series they have a lot of emotional pulling stories

So anime has to be cool?? Interesting.

Mine too. Almost 3 years of NEETing has done this to me.

Anime was always a cartoon just made with Japanese animators.
