Have a dog myself and say the following: Most dog owners are human trash and their animals are trash too, especially everyone who keeps Pitbulls. When they let their dog shit all over the place or treat it like a substitute child it's sickening.
Even worse are cat owners - they let their animals roam wild, they mutilate/torture/kill other animals (like reptiles or birds which are most of the time threatened), they don't castrate them so that they propagate in an uncontrollable manner and then complain about hunters that want to get the problem in order (btw: in my country the cat problem is extremely bad, but still politicians do everything to stop hunters from doing their job and culling the population - despite wanting to outlaw the keeping of most fish/reptiles/invertebrates/amphibians although they are -under current climate conditions- not invasive in the slightest).
So you are in the funny situation where you need to pass extreme laws to get some animals that are unable to live outside of their enclosure in our very cold climate while the fur-loving scum can successfully pressure the government into allowing a complete destruction of our native fauna. And the reasons are also very shitty: "Danger" is the reason why they want to outlaw it, one single cobra that didn't even hurt anyone is enough to keep the media busy for weeks, when it comes to our freedoms one individual case is enough to restrict them, but when it comes to open borders everyone that sees a pattern is labeled as a monster/racist/scaremonger.
Imagine living in Europe where your freedoms are restricted without an end by the fucking EU for "safety purposes" and then they tell you that demographic replacement and open borders are harmless. Not even harmless opisthoglyphous snakes can be kept anymore in some states (not talking about Boomslangs/Bird Snakes - but harmless night snakes that produce a swelling at worst - and with spiders the law/media is retarded anyways, in some areas they even outlawed the keeping of animals that naturally occur in our homes in the fear of venomous spiders while literally almost every spider - except uloborids/etc.- is venomous, but still harmless for humans), completely sickening. Even dendrobatids sometimes make legal problems although they aren't even poisonous because they need special food items (like mantellids) to become poisonous due to sequestration. The law is utterly retarded.
