Reconciling BS
Hey OP. First obviously I’m so sorry for what you’re going through. I don’t think you mentioned how old you and your wife were when you got married, and I’m not defending her at all (I’m a BS so I don’t tend to be overly sympathetic to WS), but people are morons when they’re young. Virtually all of us. It sounds like she was particularly reckless and such but I can imagine a situation where she screwed up royally and then panicked, and tried to make the “best” decision she could. She picked someone she loved, who she knew would be the best dad. She wasn’t wrong in that sense. She just should have come clean. I can also imagine that perhaps as she matured and realized the gravity of what she did, where it would be terrifying to voluntarily bring everything crashing down by telling you. Again, she should have done in anyway in my option. Not excuse. I’m just saying I can imagine that.
Second, the only other thought I had while reading this was when you said you were not going to bring up the topic of your daughters “bio dad” until she does. You know your daughter best, so what you think is right. I would just consider that at some point she may be afraid to bring this up because she’d fear it would hurt your feelings. I would consider telling her, even once, very explicitly (and maybe you have already): “your my daughter. Period. Nothing will change that. AND, if you ever decide you want to find your biological dad also, I will support you 100%. It might be hard and a rollercoaster to both of us, but that’s ok, we will figure it out. I’ll be there with you as much as you want me to be.” Or something along those lines.
Also be aware that if she is now in 23andMe or something like that she will probably be matched to biological relatives at some point. So be ready for that too.
Hang in there OP. You sounds like an amazing dad. You’re doing great.

Wow. I rarely can handle reading long posts but I was glued to yours. I feel compassion for you and empathy for your wife. Her actions were horrible but I still felt pity. Though your daughter just had the shock of her life and his hurt, I believe she will adjust. Family, marriage, and individual counseling is a must. I truly hope you are all able to grow as a family from this.
