How pissed off does it make you when students do literally nothing in class but get good marks at the last minute? Do you think it's because the curriculum is so dumbed down?

I've had the the assistant principal or the principal pressure me to pass a student before. I do it. One of a 1,000 ways that US grade-school education is a joke.

Would be nice if you found a way to make this happen. Not in a way that puts your job at risk, but plant little seeds of truth.

Why did you choose to teach high school instead of middle or elementary school? I imagine it would be a lot easier to discipline younger children than teenagers. Also you'd avoid the rampant degeneracy.

Elementary school teaching certificates are different and elementary school teachers are usually women who purposely majored in elementary school education.

Higher level teaching certificates is grades 6-12 (middle and high school). But any teacher will tell you that teaching middle school is hell on earth. They won't sit in their seats or even listen to you. And then their district or state-wide standardized tests will suck and you'll be blamed.

If you are a teacher - you want to teach the oldest and smartest kids possible. That way all you have to worry about is teaching. Not corralling and controlling a bunch of annoying pieces of shit (to be completely honest). And they didn't learn? Oh you must be a bad teacher. Nobody blames the parent or home life. It's the teacher that the kid saw for 4-5 hours a week who is to blame.

Got my AP certification last year to teach AP level. Those are by far my favorite periods. Nationally, 1/3 of kids shouldn't even be in high school. In the early 1900s they would be working in a farm or factory doing manual labor (where they belong).

I went to an ivy league school. I think there's at least a slight correlation between intelligence and inceldom. Incels obviously though suck in the workplace - horrible emotional intelligence which amounts to zero leadership skills and no chance at promotion.

I graduated during the tail-end of the Great Recession of 2008-2012. And then I had 2 years of unemployment because I was just too depressed to get out of bed.

If someone makes me explain - it's the best I can do. Almost everyone in my graduating class is more successful than me.

Later, ultimately, getting a job teaching in science or math in high school is so fucking easy because almost nobody who is qualified to do it wants to do it. So I took it. Yes, I hate my life. Yes, to all the obvious questions that follow.

My school has quite a bit of foreigners for whom this was the best option at the time. For example, a Cuban guy who (back in the 1950s/60s) the Cuban gov. sent to the Communist block in Europe. He has a master's in engineering but teaches grade school geometry (very basic). Then there are some science teachers who are just taking a year between college and med school and trying to prepare for the MCAT (medical school admissions exam). But of course there are the idiots as well. I would say 90% of teachers who aren't teaching science or math (higher-level math - algebra I teachers are quite stupid) really are dumb/incompetent.

It's usually procrastination. Nobody actually plans to be a teacher for life.

Yeah, looking back on my HS years (this was at a prestigious HS too), the STEM teachers were usually intelligent males with degrees, while the other subjects' teachers were incredibly incompetent foids with families to feed and bills to pay.

Funnily enough, it was always the middle-aged, academically clueless foids teaching irrelevant subjects such as foreign languages that showed blatant favoritism, never lesson planned, ran a complete joke of a class if you could even call it a class, and graded assignments unfairly based on how much they liked you. Always wondered how these people even got certified by the state to teach.
