I think its more complex than that, but very broadly is true. It didn't use to be - flashback to 15 years ago and women had exposure to high beauty standards through magazines etc, but they didn't get the huge outpouring of validation from men that social media allows. So I suspect the levels of female depression, insecurity etc were higher during this period. But in 2018, women have such insane levels of validation just mere clicks away, the pendulum has swung to the opposite, where most women are unrealistic about how unattractive they are and are simply unable to gauge their looksmax correctly because of the glut of male attention coming from online sources. Its why we have things like fat acceptance, body acceptance, STD acceptance etc so prolific among women - their egos have never been higher.
