No one caresFor some reason, I find Japanese modern architecture like traditional houses beside the streets very aesthetically pleasing.

Makes me feel nostalgic too.
Tokyo is alright in itself as a big city, but it's a big city.I wish I could live somewhere as comfy as Tokyo.
I like how there are so many self contained districts in Tokyo. You’re in an intimate setting but part of a much larger city you can explore if you feel like itTokyo is alright in itself as a big city, but it's a big city.
You want comfy? Shimo-suwa is superior.
2015 future funk remix of an 80's city pop songSounds like it could either be from the late 1980s/early 1990s or from the mid 2010s ngl
What genre would this music be classified as?
Would this music be considered vaporwave? Not familiar with vaporwave but have heard of it being popular as an alt genre tbh2015 future funk remix of an 80's city pop song
future funk is a derivative of vaporwave... it's basically vaporwave + french house/disco + 1970's-80's japanese city popWould this music be considered vaporwave? Not familiar with vaporwave but have heard of it being popular as an alt genre tbh
1970's-80's japanese city pop doesn't sound much different than alternative 1980s music from western countries tbh just the lyrics are in japanese instead of englishfuture funk is a derivative of vaporwave... it's basically vaporwave + french house/disco + 1970's-80's japanese city pop
It's subtle, but it's tapping into that vintage futuristic vibe of 70s-80s Japan, when everyone thought the Japanese economic powerhouse was unstoppable and Japan was going to take over the world. For example, the original of this song has both an American and Japanese version, but the Japanese version is used due to its aesthetics.1970's-80's japanese city pop doesn't sound much different than alternative 1980s music from western countries tbh just the lyrics are in japanese instead of english
Yeah can see how that subtle theme comes up nglIt's subtle, but it's tapping into that vintage futuristic vibe of 70s-80s Japan, when everyone thought the Japanese economic powerhouse was unstoppable and Japan was going to take over the world.
Shouldn't be so surprising that Japan and America have a lot of cultural similarities at some points in time after WW2 tbhFor example, the original of this song has both an American and Japanese version, but the Japanese version is used due to its aesthetics.

Yeah, you can also see the choice in source material as a rejection of the trajectory that America degenerated into with rap and over-sexualized illuminati-pop trash in the 90s and onward.Shouldn't be so surprising that Japan and America have a lot of cultural similarities at some points in time after WW2 tbh
Many rappers lowkey are interested in/obsessed with anime and Japanese culture which is why the artificial post WW2 Japanese culture is also getting corrupted. Hiphop and rap culture is like a virus that homogenizes the culture to the lowest common denominator @BummerDrummerYeah, you can also see the choice in source material as a rejection of the trajectory that America degenerated into with rap and over-sexualized illuminati-pop trash in the 90s and onward.
Oh absolutely. The song in the OP was actually promoted by a rapper (Etika) before he killed himself due to unrelated issues as to what music should sound like, instead of the crap it's turned into. It's why it has 2 million views. Many rappers lowkey are interested in/obsessed with anime and Japanese culture which is why the artificial post WW2 Japanese culture is also getting corrupted. I see. Didn't know Etika was a rapper tbh thought he was just a streamer. Either way the way rap and hiphop culture forcibly assimilates surrounding cultures is very real tbhOh absolutely. Didn't really think of it that way consciously, but now that I do, it all makes sense. And out of people that dislike rap and hiphop notice most of them aren't females and that rap and hiphop is misandrist in a sense that men that are low status are shit on constantly. You don't see that as much in other music genres.
Many blackcels can probably relate tbh you see the topic hinted (never brought up directly obviously) by more conservative blackcels that don't like how rap and hiphop culture is disdainful toward guys that aren't tyrones.Didn't really think of it that way consciously, but now that I do, it all makes sense.
Another banger @WØLF
