Predators was a decent enough movie in the series. Just watched it again recently.
Adrien Brody is by far the biggest problem with the movie. Adrien plays the alpha mercenary who leads the group in combat against the Predators. He's a good actor. He does everything right from an acting perspective.
The problem is this is what he looks like:
Hook nose, small skull, no warrior bone structure, weak jaw, small frame, boyish voice.
Even being super ripped doesn't really help him because he doesn't have the size for it:
His body looks great but he still looks like one of those beta gym pictures people post on this site. Tiny bones, tiny frame, unaesthetic and unmasculine head.
The whole movie it's hard to shake the feeling that:
1) No one in the group would follow his lead
2) Someone else in the group would just knock him out to take command
3) He would be zero physical threat to any Predator hand-to-hand
This is partly a flaw of the modern steroid culture. He's very muscular by any normal standard. But now we expect this:
If I were casting for a movie, I would:
- Only hire white men/women for the main roles
- Only hire minorities in minor roles to make the movie look "diverse" without uglying it up
- Only hire guys with NW1 hairlines, strong jaws, and warrior skulls (ie. Chads) unless it's an omega role
- Only hire the best looking women.
Acting skill is massively overrated. Anyone can be coached into a reasonable performance if they've got a normal range IQ and normal social skills. But you can't teach someone to be good looking if they aren't.
