The writers that were fired or quit I guess kept him in check. You can see some of his poison seeping in with Ellie being gay in the first game's DLC and Nadine existing for Uncharted 4: A Thief's End. When they left he got his hands on the wheels and held on tight.

I think the first game is pretty good story wise, gameplay wise it's kind of bland. And considering how much he seemed to be held back by other writers before Naughty Dog's purge of them, he probably went all out in this game.
Some sad shit. A lot of talent was put into making this game. PS4 performance is very limited due to its rather lackluster hardware with even budget laptops being stronger, but Naughty Dog managed to create a game which can rival most graphically stunning games on PC. That's pretty impressive considering the hardware they had to work with. Unfortunately, all of that was wasted by some Jew and his sick fetishes. Even normalfags are repulsed. Naughty Dog just nuked its own reputation.
