It is heavily intertwined with TRP ideology really. You know, guys that like to bullshit about being a "real man" (funnily enough never any discussion of having integrity, what being a "real man" is actually all about). Often but not always middle-aged and fat. Drink beer and watch sports all the time. Brag about how much meat they eat (because they can't brag about how much meat they beat). Bullshit about how "men shouldn't shave anything but their face!" and other stupid "rules of manliness." In short they try desperately to be like Ron Swanson.
These guys usually hate on pretty boys as well. Gee, I can't imagine why! They desperately try to convince themselves that the reason women dont like them is because "feminist propaganda has made women unattracted to us 'manly' men!" when the reality of why women don't like them is pretty obvious to anyone that isn't retarded.
The whole cultural worship of the "man's man" is a big cope for ugly dudes and beta males in denial; a beta male is just a regular, non-alpha cog in the machine or worker bee if you will. They don't stand out, follow the crowd, and naturally are largely invisible to women, though not quite incel. Thus a man that can relate so well to these kinds of guys is not ssomeon to look up to.
