Today’s post is a pretty simple one, I just wish to share this Japanese song about inceldom with you.

The lyrics of the song are somewhat ambiguous, however, you can draw interpretations from the lyrics based on the rather clear visuals.

For starters, I believe that the title of the song (and the repeating theme it represents) is referring to the idea of missing various major developmental cornerstones. The alphabet is frequently shortened to “the ABCs” and this is done in the song itself. A, B and C are all vital letters in the alphabet, and because they represent the most common shorthand for thr alphabet, one may say that they are the most important, or at least recognizable piece of the alphabet. For the alphabet to begin after C, you will naturally have skipped the 3 letters which begin the alphabet, and which are considered it’s most iconic “best” letters. It isn’t difficult to see how this idea would be a metaphor for missing the “best years” of one’s life, and major developmental milestones such as teen love, for example. An ABC starting from C is a life which missed out on its own best moments.

Through this lens, the ending of the music video, in which various objects and individuals are forcibly transformed into the letter “C” by the incel band members, (who are explicitly shown to be mistreated, abused, ignored, and quite literally spit on by women) can be seen as a sort of act of “incel revolution” in which we forcibly push our voices and life states onto the masses who have ignored our plights and struggles, and so often overlook us.

The song’s official music video may be found below

Unfortunately, I was unable to find an official or unofficial English translation of the full song, and so I was forced to translate a Spanish fan-translation into English. I chose to maintain the wording of the song as closely as possible, however, the lyrics are somewhat stilted as a result. Fortunately, the first half of the song (sans a portion of the beginning) was featured in the anime Kaiji: Against all Rules, and so it has an official English translation, which can be found below. This partial translation sounds much more natural, but is likely embellished as a result.

My own line by line English translation, and the Spanish translation it was derived from can be found below

(Instrumental opening)

The alphabet starts after…

C!!!

I listened to Chatmonchy at full volume

My tears, oh my tears start to fall

This hasn’t happened since I listened to Blankey

So I decided to write them a fan letter

My beloved electric guitar…

Will you be able to hear me some day?

Before I even realized, I was turning 30…

But hey…

That’s ok!!!

I don’t want to hear things like “I miss you” or “I love you anymore”

The girl I had a crush on went snowboarding

With a boy she had a crush on

And some of their friends

We were left behind

So we went to drink at Tsubohachi (Japanese restaurant)

I have nightmares about it to this day…

But hey…

That’s ok!!!

I waste all of my energy masturbating…

But hey…

That’s ok!!!

Nothing makes any sense if I don’t talk loudly…

But hey…

That’s ok!!!

The alphabet starts after…

C!!!

C!!!

C!!!
