A therapist is someone you pay to talk to for a few hours, they listen and are supposed to give you grounded and down to earth advice. This person has hopefully versed themselves in psychology so they can understand how to help and properly advise damaged or traumatized people.
This can’t be right. If we have people going to therapy and still coming out fucked up that says something. The people who are working the job aren’t there to help or listen and give real help. This means they are there to waste time and be their friend who tells them all the right things.
It seems to me the therapists these days are more interested in keeping a customer around rather than providing direct and honest advice.
This would make a decent case for why people on here who seek therapy find so much trouble. A good therapist should be a critic, a cynic almost, provoking real questions, being sincere, and more importantly wanting to do his job no matter who is in the room.
What we have truthfully is a bunch of people who “think” they would make good therapists but aren’t.
