A few months ago, I found myself a new job which has been a blessing, financially and professionally as it is suited to my skillset. The role is essentially a low-office archivist job. My colleague--a female, 20s--was hired the same time as me, a little earlier actually because I had issues with my documents which delayed me. She has told me on several occasions of upcoming dates she had. I won't lie, hearing this just reminds me of how undesirable I am. Her value as a white woman is much higher than mine. She is courted often, people taking interest meanwhile I'm just a prop in the background. I am forgettable, my existence is dismissive. 'Tis truly over for me.
