When I was at Uni and heard about guys going out to clubs and bars, it became clear that they themselves, even MTNs and HTNs didn't think that they had any actual agency when it came to pulling a girl.
It was always "I might get lucky tonight" as if they were relying on the Universe to conjur up the perfect chain of events for them to get laid. And that's basically how it played out. On the rare occasion they got laid, they were super drunk at closing time and stumbled into an equally drunk girl, started making out and then one thing led to another.
Contrast this to the 60's, a HTN going out to a dance had control in that he could pick a girl he found attractive, ask for a dance and try to seduce her. If he succeeded, it wasn't just something that had "happened". He actually believed that he had an active part, and no, not in a "confidence" way, but more of an observational way.
Nowadays, foids have 100s of HTNs on their phones. Going out is basically just Chad Safari. Chad has sucked all the power from the "middle-classes" of looks and made them into non-players in a night life environment. MTNs and HTNs do not actually believe that going out will get them laid, they're placing a bet and hoping it will happen.
MTNs and HTNs are now like leaves blowing in the wind. They put themselves in a situation weekend after weekend, drink copious amounts, put on cologne and just hope that the circumstances will work in their favour.
