I first realized I was an incel back in 2015, when I was still in University. I was actually participating in the r/incels subreddit since then.
Trust me when I say that I tried every conceivable thing I could to get a girlfriend. I used to go to the gym and was insanely fit in University. I tried dating apps, talking to women in person, and all of that didn't work. I even paid a photographer $100 in 2017 to take high quality pictures of me in different outfits around the city, believe it or not.
Fast forward to 2025 and I have a very stable, high paying job, and a two bedroom, one bathroom house to myself. Technically for my age I'm doing extremely well for myself, but I have never had a girlfriend and I don't see that changing. You just can't fix being 5'4" and Arabic. I still look younger than some of the kids you see in the highschool nearby.
I think at some point me being an incel has seeped into not only how I live my life, but my interactions with others. I don't go to the gym anymore, I frankly do not see the point. I don't own a car because where do I need to go exactly? I can get to work just fine using public transit. I buy replacements for socks, underwear, etc, but most of the clothes I wear have remained unchanged since University pretty much. The house I live in is too big, I don't even use the two bedrooms, just a room for my bed, and a desk for my laptop. No TV.
And frankly, it's even more difficult now. My job does not have me interact with too much women, and the nature of my job makes it very difficult to do so. so I don't ever see this changing really.
