There is a negative effect from being too good looking as a man. This is seen readily in Hollywood, where the peak most wealthy and successful actors tend to be in the 6-7/10 range.
When you're a 9+/10 your career is almost always unremarkable and you will get only smaller/failed roles.
eg. I was just watching Jupiter Ascending on TV and I thought this guy was legit Lachowski (Douglas Booth):
In actually fact he's a nobody 9+/10 actor who's done nothing significant with his career.
Another example is Alex Pettyfer who is probably one of the best looking people on earth at his peak:
Hollywood gave him a load of movie roles and every single one bombed. He still gets work but he's a failure all things considered.
Meanwhile these are the types of guys making hundreds of millions:
I've posted my theories before as to why this is the case. Some people suggest there simply aren't enough ridiculously good looking guys to go around. But I'm doubtful. If having a 9+/10 face was such an asset for broad appeal, managers would be scouting guys like Brett Maverick off YouTube to give them acting lessons so they can make millions of $$$. I think it's more than that.
Still curious to hear if you have any ideas your own.
