In a few generations we've gone from that to young men being expected to compete with the best of the best from all over the world in every area of life. Which higher values? What is there to achieve, that's worth achieving? I really want to know, what people mean by such statements. The wealthier humanity becomes, the more we will see how devoid of meaning the world is. The meaning, which kept humanity alive and sane after god died was to improve the world. Make life better. But what is there to do, if life is the best it can be? Only distractions from our pointless existence remain. It must necessarily end in full on hedonism.

We will very likely never reach a perfect world, but we can observe, that hedonism is taking over, the better life is for humans, because there is just nothing else to do. If you can live a life full of lustful, great, but certainly meaningless sex, why wouldn't you? What else should you do? It's the same with drugs. It's just a convenient and easy way to feel good and kill time. It's so funny how people try to delude themselves to be convinced, that there is actual meaning to be found in life and there are higher goals to achieve.
Our consciousness is a mistake. It shouldn't exist. Humanity shouldn't exist. There is just absolutely nothing to do in this universe and the more advanced our society gets, the more obvious it will be and more and more of these symptoms will arise.

I think the best way to visualize this is to think of a utopian society. How would it look like? Let's say the economy is run automatically. No more work. People have been genetically engineered to be decent human beings and are not drawn to violence, are not susceptible to diseases and can heal the gravest of injuries. Death is still possible, but their lifespan is long, aging is severely reduced. Technology solved every environmental problem. What would the people do? How would they spend their time?
Another thought experiment: What if there was a machine, that would let you feel nothing but bliss. You connect to it and nothing matters anymore, there are only good feels. Would people use it? Would it get boring eventually? Is it a life, that's worth living?
I'm just wondering, what the endgame of our society, of humanity itself will look like. Which direction do we want to go? Where do we want to arrive? Shouldn't these questions be the guiding questions? Especially the question, if such a society is worth creating, because if it isn't, there is no point for humanity to keep on existing. It's absolutely baffling to me how nobody questions the fundamental questions and everybody just keeps reproducing without even considering, if it's the right thing to do.

The human brain is able to filter out a lot of noise that is not relevant to its immediate or distant goals. With such connectedness and competition people find their niches and specialties much faster and block out the other things.

Everybody quickly realizes that if everybody competes for the same things, there will be many losers, so naturally people are going to spread out and carve out spaces for themselves that they can compete in.

Smartphones and social media have become the center focal point of today’s youth, what a shitty time to exist. I was a kid in the 90s when the internet started to naturally be in everybody’s home on their shitty Packard Bell computer. America Online is what started all of this but as a kid it was quite exciting to connect with the world. I remember going into the chats and telling strangers to go fuck themselves, having that freedom gave me such a boost in dopamine I thought to myself YES THIS THE FUTURE.

It’s funny as AOL was heavily regulated and monitored sort of like today but soon after the GOLDEN AGE OF THE INTERNET came to be. Illegally downloading anything I wanted, those were the best days of my life lol.

Then MySpace happened, then Facebook, Twitter, iPhones, Instagram, Tinder and everything eventually became consolidated and corporate. We’re all still very lucky we have platforms to express our opinions without consequence, it’s just nothing like it was tho..
