The hobby boards range from, okay to awesome. Just depends when there's something going down in that scene at any particular time. /v/ when e3 or TGS is going down comes to mind. /pol/ is great for happening news and the dark laugh. Porn boards have really really gone downhill in the last few years.

Any website that is known too much by the mainstream loses its luster and culture, which is pretty much what happened to 4chan.

4chan itself jumped the shark years ago, and most of the content on imageboards is shit, but that's not the point. Imageboards (along with this place and a few others) are some of the very very very few places left on the internet where you can have a discussion about topics outside what's condoned by the ruling powers (media elite, tech oligarchs, etc). It doesn't matter that 99% of imageboard posts are spergy jackassery, that other 1% is so insanely valuable that I'll defend the "system" as a whole. It disappoints me when people here say shit like "imageboards got boring so I don't care if they get deplatformed and the entire internet becomes facebook".

RIP 8chan. I even tried checking the 08chan boards on zerochan using tor, and it seems like no body posted there for at least 10 days.

4chan more like failchan. Cant even post without spending 5 min solving a captcha or paying (((hiroyuki))). Tbh if you are one of the normalniggers on failchan you deserve to get ripped off.
