I don't see it happening to that extent. We aren't back into a film era like the 1970s. We are still in the capeshit era, it just so happened that Joker is one of the few massively popular characters where you can make an arthouse movie about him. Most people saw the movie because it's a comic-book movie, that's different, and is critically acclaimed among everyone except die-hard SJWs. Try making an arthouse movie about the Flash, or Captain Marvel.

If you want to see a movie along the same anti-hero vein, but is more of a medium budget quality, I would highly recommend "Attack on Wall Street" (2013)

But nowadays, that concept dying. All men are evil. If you sacrifice, you cannot expect a loyal woman: That is sexist. You cannot expect anything. All sacrifice is useless.
